Data breach settlements compensate people whose personal information (Social Security numbers, medical records, financial details) was exposed in a hack or security lapse. Most follow the same structure: a documented-loss tier for people with receipts, a flat or pro rata cash payment with no proof, and free credit monitoring. If you received a breach notice letter or email, you are usually already in the class.
