ZOLL Medical Data Breach Settlement

Smith v. ZOLL Medical Corporation (D. Mass., No. 1:23-cv-10575) stems from a breach at the maker of the LifeVest wearable defibrillator that exposed patient information. The $3.5 million fund reimburses documented losses up to $5,000 and adds a pro rata cash payment, with the SSN-exposed subclass receiving double the base share. Documentation is only needed for the loss-reimbursement piece. Opt-outs and objections closed August 3, 2026, but claims remain open through September 2, 2026, just ahead of the September 10 hearing in Boston.

U.S. residents who were sent a notice from ZOLL Medical about its data incident. The class splits into two groups depending on whether a person's Social Security number was potentially exposed.
