Flagstar Bank Data Breach Settlement

Flagstar Bank agreed to a $31.5 million fund covering two 2021 data security incidents that together exposed personal information belonging to over two million people. Class members can pick between a flat residual cash payment, reimbursement of up to $25,000 for provable breach-related losses, and three years of tri-bureau credit monitoring, and California residents can stack a statutory payment of up to $100. Only the documented-loss track requires receipts or records; the standard cash payment does not. The claim deadline is August 11, 2026, with final approval to be considered October 1, 2026.

The roughly 2.19 million U.S. consumers whose personal information was exposed in the Flagstar-related breaches disclosed in January and December 2021, including about 364,000 California residents who qualify for an added statutory payment.

Documented losses reimbursed up to $25,000; alternative cash payment estimated around $60 (capped at $599); Californians can add up to $100; three years of three-bureau credit monitoring also available.

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.
