What this settlement is about

In re Lemonade, Inc. Data Disclosure Litigation (S.D.N.Y., No. 1:25-cv-04106) alleges the insurtech's quote flow leaked applicants' personal data over roughly 17 months ending in September 2024. Lemonade is paying $10.5 million into a fund that covers documented losses up to $10,000, provided claimants supply reasonable third-party documentation, with rejected loss claims automatically converted to the pro rata cash tier. Every class member gets three years of tri-bureau credit monitoring without filing anything. Claims are due September 8, 2026; opt-outs and objections closed August 7, 2026.

Who is eligible

People notified by Lemonade in 2025 that their personal information, including driver's license numbers, was exposed through the company's online insurance quoting platform between April 2023 and September 18, 2024.

Estimated payout

Documented losses reimbursed up to $10,000, or a pro rata cash payment from what remains of the fund; three years of credit monitoring with $1 million identity theft insurance is automatic for all class members.

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.

Proof requirements

Partial proof: the base payment does not require documents, but higher payment tiers (such as documented-loss reimbursement) do. You can usually file the simple tier with just the claim form, or attach records to claim more.
