What this settlement is about

Media company Urban One is settling Konneh v. Urban One (D. Md., No. 8:25-cv-01460) over a March 2025 cyberattack that exposed personal files. The $675,000 fund offers two tracks: reimbursement of documented fraud or identity-theft losses up to $10,000 (receipts or statements required), or a no-documentation pro rata payment projected at up to $500. Three years of CyEx credit monitoring with $1 million in fraud insurance is also on the table. Note the claim window runs to October 12, 2026, later than the September 12 opt-out and objection cutoff.

Who is eligible

U.S. residents whose private information may have been exposed in the cyberattack Urban One discovered in March 2025, generally the people who received a breach notice from the company.

Estimated payout

Documented losses up to $10,000 plus lost time at $25/hour (max $375), or an alternate pro rata payment expected up to $500; all class members can also claim three years of credit monitoring.

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.

Proof requirements

Partial proof: the base payment does not require documents, but higher payment tiers (such as documented-loss reimbursement) do. You can usually file the simple tier with just the claim form, or attach records to claim more.
