Tinder California Age Discrimination Settlement

Tinder agreed to pay $60.5 million to end long-running claims that charging users over roughly age 29 more for Tinder Plus and Gold violated California's Unruh Civil Rights Act. Class members identified in Tinder's records get a share of the fund automatically, sized to what they spent, and simply need to pick a payment method by August 18, 2026. Users who were not matched in the records could submit a claim with basic purchase details and supporting documentation. The exclusion window closed April 8, 2026 and the approval hearing was held May 20, 2026.

California users who paid for Tinder Plus or Tinder Gold on or after March 2, 2015 while older than 29, or on or after March 2, 2016 while older than 28, and were charged the higher age-based price. Roughly 268,000 subscribers fall within the class.

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.
