Silk Canada and Great Value Plant-Based Beverage Recall Settlement

In July 2024, Danone Canada recalled Silk and Great Value plant-based milks after a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that public health officials linked to 20 illnesses and three deaths. A class action followed in the Superior Court of Quebec, and the court approved a $7.5 million national settlement on April 17, 2026. Claims opened June 19, 2026 and are administered by Concilia Services Inc. Claimants generally need medical and purchase records showing they ingested a recalled product and became ill around that time.

Anyone in Canada who bought or consumed Silk Canada or Walmart Great Value refrigerated plant-based beverages covered by the July 8, 2024 Listeria recall. This includes people who suffered physical or psychological harm after drinking the recalled products, as well as families of those who died.

Roughly $400 to $300,000 depending on illness severity under the court-approved compensation grid; the most serious injury and death claims sit at the top of the range, and amounts may be adjusted pro rata once all claims are adjudicated..

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.
