Shimano Crankset Recall Settlement

This settlement grew out of litigation over Shimano Hollowtech road cranksets that could crack or come apart at the bonded joints, a defect that also triggered a large recall. Rather than a fixed cash pool, the deal centers on an inspection program, an extended warranty running to late July 2027, and repayment of documented costs owners already incurred replacing or installing affected parts. The court gave the agreement final approval on February 2, 2026. Reimbursement claims with supporting documentation must reach the administrator by August 4, 2026.

Anyone in the United States who bought, received, or owned one of the designated Shimano Hollowtech road cranksets, as long as the parts were not held purely for resale. Both original buyers and later owners of the affected components qualify.

Reimbursement of reasonable documented out-of-pocket crankset replacement and installation costs, plus an extended warranty covering bonding separation and delamination through July 29, 2027.

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.
