What this settlement is about
After gate crashing and security failures marred the 2024 Copa America final between Argentina and Colombia, ticketholders sued the stadium operator, both soccer confederations, and the crowd-management contractor, producing a $14 million settlement. Payment tiers separate fans who never got in, who can claim up to $2,000 per ticket including some travel costs, from fans who entered but lost access to their seats or facilities, who get $100 per ticket. Claims need a time-stamped photo or video from outside or inside the stadium showing the claimant, or a government photo ID, tied to the match date. Filings are due August 11, 2026, following the May 13, 2026 final approval hearing.
Who is eligible
Fans holding valid tickets to the July 14, 2024 Copa America final at Hard Rock Stadium who either never made it through the gates or got inside but were shut out of their purchased seats or normal stadium amenities during the crowd-control chaos.
Estimated payout
Reported by court notices and third-party sources, not yet confirmed on the official administrator site: Up to $2,000 per ticket for those denied entry (including up to $300 in travel costs); $100 per ticket for those admitted but denied full access.
No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.
Proof requirements
This settlement requires documentation. Check the official claim form for exactly what is accepted before you start; receipts, account statements, repair invoices, or records from the defendant are typical.
