What this settlement is about
These settlements grow out of the sprawling generic pharmaceuticals price-fixing litigation, in which drugmakers were accused of coordinating to inflate prices on scores of common generics. Court-approved end-payer settlements total roughly $533 million: $275 million from Sandoz and Fougera, $200 million from Sun and Taro, and $58 million from Heritage and Apotex. Consumers and third-party payers who paid for covered generics between mid-2009 and the end of 2019 can file, supporting their claims with receipts, invoices, or pharmacy records showing the drugs bought and amounts paid. All claims must be submitted online or postmarked by November 9, 2026. The administrator site could not be machine-read at verification time, so details rely on counsel announcements and secondary coverage.
Who is eligible
End payers who bought or reimbursed the cost of certain generic prescription drugs in the United States between May 1, 2009 and December 31, 2019. That includes individual consumers who paid out of pocket or via copays, as well as health insurers, employer plans, and union benefit funds.
Estimated payout
Reported by court notices and third-party sources, not yet confirmed on the official administrator site: A pro rata share based on qualifying generic drug purchases or reimbursements during the class period; amounts vary widely with purchase volume and total claims filed..
No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.
Proof requirements
This settlement requires documentation. Check the official claim form for exactly what is accepted before you start; receipts, account statements, repair invoices, or records from the defendant are typical.
