What this settlement is about

Bradberry v. Equifax Information Services (N.D. Ga., No. 1:22-cv-04754) accused the credit bureau of violating the Fair Credit Reporting Act by listing the same collection debt twice on consumer reports. Equifax is reportedly funding a $2.2 million settlement, with cash claims requiring only an affirmation of harm rather than documents; claimants log in with the Notice ID and PIN from their mailing. Six months of credit monitoring goes to all class members automatically. Claims and exclusions are due September 1, 2026, objections by October 6, 2026, and the fairness hearing date had not been posted as of early August 2026.

Who is eligible

Consumers whose Equifax credit files allegedly showed the same collection account reported more than once, identified through Equifax's records and sent a notice with a Notice ID and PIN.

File honestly. No proof is required to submit this claim, but the form is signed under penalty of perjury. Only file if you actually meet the eligibility rules above. Administrators audit and reject fraudulent claims, and mass bogus filings shrink payouts for real class members. More in our guide tono-proof settlements.

Estimated payout

Cash payments expected to reach up to about $600 for members who affirm they were harmed, plus six months of free credit monitoring for everyone in the class.

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.

Proof requirements

No documentation is required. You submit the claim form and attest to your eligibility; the administrator validates claims against available records.
