What this settlement is about

Atrium Health patients claimed the North Carolina health system's portal and web pages carried third-party tracking code that leaked health-related browsing activity to outside companies. The settlement, valued at up to $1.8 million, splits claimants into two tiers: people who used the portal before August 2019 share the main $1.5 million fund, while other account holders from the nine-year class period can claim up to $10 apiece. Claims are attestation-based and checked against Atrium's records, with a September 28, 2026 filing deadline just before the September 30 final approval hearing.

Who is eligible

U.S. residents who held a MyAtriumHealth or MyCarolinas patient portal account between January 1, 2015 and April 10, 2024. Those who actually accessed the portal between January 1, 2015 and July 31, 2019 fall into a higher-paying group.

File honestly. No proof is required to submit this claim, but the form is signed under penalty of perjury. Only file if you actually meet the eligibility rules above. Administrators audit and reject fraudulent claims, and mass bogus filings shrink payouts for real class members. More in our guide tono-proof settlements.

Estimated payout

Group 1 (portal access 2015-July 2019) splits the $1.5M fund pro rata after deductions; Group 2 (account holders without qualifying access) can receive up to $10 each.

No payment amount is ever guaranteed. Pro rata payouts shrink as more valid claims come in, and every payment waits on final court approval and any appeals.

Proof requirements

No documentation is required. You submit the claim form and attest to your eligibility; the administrator validates claims against available records.
